Class of 2016 four-star wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland, the No. 1 receiver in Texas, has shocked everyone and committed to Tom Herman and the Houston Cougars.
Cleveland, who currently plays at Westfield High School in the Space City, announced his decision on his Twitter.
IM STAYING HOME …. GO COOGS , I Officially Committed the university of Houston ‼️

Cleveland had received offers from a number of other top programs besides Houston including Alabama, Florida, LSU, Oklahoma, Arizona State, Baylor and others. Instead, he will head to Herman’s offense-oriented system in which he should become a top player on the collegiate level. His commitment gives the Cougars 20 commitments for the 2016 class, not at all bad for a team that flew under the national radar just a few years ago.
Given how the team went 12-1 and won an AAC Championship in Herman’s first season en route to a date with Florida State in New Year’s Eve’s Peach Bowl, look forward to Houston remaining a top contender for the foreseeable future!
