For some, getting to visit New York City, one of the most iconic cities in the entire United States, is a dream that will sadly never come true. This year, the Indiana Hoosiers get to visit New York City as their team was invited to the New Era Pinstripe Bowl being played in Yankees Stadium.
Indiana University has decided that they want to make it a little more accessible for their students to make it to this year’s game. According to College Football Talk, Indiana is giving their students $10 ticket deals for the bowl game on December 26.
The tickets cost the university $55 a pop, but they want to make it special for their students. The school released a statement saying that their students have been great in supporting the Hoosiers all year so now they want to give back.
“Our students have been fantastic all season and we really want them to be able to experience a bowl game in one of the world’s truly iconic sporting venues,” Indiana Athletic Director Fred Glass said in a report published by WISHTV in Indianapolis. “It costs $10 for a student to see a game in Bloomington and we wanted it to be the same for them to cheer on the Hoosiers in the Big Apple.”
This game may not draw as many fans as it has in the past since they are no nearby schools playing in the game. Last year, Boston College and Penn State set a new Yankees Stadium attendance record at 49,012 fans.
However, I’m sure the students in Bloomington will certainly appreciate what their school is doing for them. This is certainly one of the coolest Christmas presents the university could have given them.
