The New England college football scene is becoming more competitive. The University of Massachusetts has announce a deal that will see the Minutemen take on Connecticut in four straight years.
Games in 2018 and 2020 will be played in Connecticut while games in 2019 and 2021 will take place at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. With the new agreement, games scheduled between the two for 2016 and 2017 have been cancelled with Boston College set to play UConn during those years.
In addition to the UConn matchups, UMass has announced that it will also play Boston College during the 2021 and 2022 seasons in addition to games in 2016 and 2018. It ensures that all three schools face each other while growing the game in the area.
UConn has yet to announce the deal on there end, though it’s expected to come at any point in time.
New England college football may be down, but a schedule like this could really help see the area start to boom. Now, if one of them only wants to schedule Harvard. Then we could have a really fun time.
