Arizona State hires USM OC Chip Lindsey to same position

The Southern Miss Golden Eagles had a fantastic season this year going 9-3 and getting to the Conference USA Championship Game for the first time since 2011. They did this mostly because of their offense being so dominant.

Now it looks like they will have to find someone else to run that dynamic offense. It was reported by SI’s Thayer Evans that offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey had been hired by Arizona State to the same position on Thursday.

Lindsey has worked with the Golden Eagles for the last two seasons, but also worked under Gus Malzahn at Auburn. He helped with the receivers and assisted running the offense there as well.

The Sun Devils will certainly benefit from having a guy that has worked in the SEC, especially with an offense like the Tigers’. Not to mention that the Golden Eagles had a top ten offense this year as well.
