A lot of people seem to be excited about Mark Richt being hired as the next coach at Miami, and former Hurricanes star receiver Michael Irvin is one of them.
Irvin recently appeared on Colin Cowherd’s The Herd and discussed just how he felt about the hire.

Irvin is absolutely right to call Richt “family,” as the former Georgia coach was raised in South Florida and played quarterback at Miami under Howard Schnellenberger. His offense-oriented system is just what the team needs in the fast-paced ACC and once he hires a strong defensive coordinator, football at The U could very well be back with a vengeance.
Given how Irvin is a definitive “Miami guy,” having posted 143 receptions for 2,423 yards and 26 touchdowns while winning a national championship in 1987, this is quite the endorsement for the Hurricanes’ new coach.
