Cincinnati Bengals fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Adam Schefter has reported on Twitter that quarterback Andy Dalton does not need surgery on his broken thumb.
Andy Dalton does not need surgery on his thumb, per Cincinnati source. Will depend on how quickly he heals.

And fans will be happy to have Dalton back. Following the Ginger Hammer’s exit from yesterday’s 33-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, backup A.J. McCarron completed 22 of 32 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions while also being sacked three times. One of those interceptions was returned for a touchdown.
The Bengals aren’t in grave danger of missing the postseason, especially with their record at 10-3 and them two games ahead of Pittsburgh in the AFC North, but Dalton returning sooner rather than later would be ideal as McCarron has talent, but isn’t quite ready for the big time yet.
