Serena Williams hails a cab to the finish line of her own foundation’s marathon

To be fair, Serena Williams is currently ranked as the No. 1 women’s tennis player in the world, and I know I could never finish a marathon myself. Nonetheless, the all-world tennis star was spotted exiting her Serena Williams Live Ultimate Run South Beach 2015 marathon at the 2km mark to hail a cab to the finish line.

Her sister Venus, who also participated, finished the 5k race sans cab.

Although no reason has been specified for why she got the cab, it is likely due to the injuries she has been dealing with lately. Serena has had to pull out of her last two tournaments due to needing to recover from injury and announced she would take a year off to properly heal.

Money raised from the run goes to Serena Williams Fund which supports a wide variety of causes.

In the past the foundation has helped build schools in Africa, fund college scholarships in New York and supported efforts to tackle the gun problems on American streets.
