Cam Newton does not get fined for giving kids football after TDs

Of course not, but gotcha! Despite a Facebook post claiming Carolina Panthers star quarterback Cam Newton has been fined upwards of $250k for giving little kids footballs after touchdowns, it turns out that its not true. Newton has been giving away football since his rookie year back in 2011.

According to the NFL, a player can be fined for throwing a ball into the stands, this is done for crowd control. The league says it is a measure to prevent fans from fighting over the ball.

Simply handing a ball to a fan does not carry any punishment – although if it ever becomes fun you can bet Goodell will institute one. Newton gives away balls as part of his “Sunday Giveaway” program.

Finally something to dispute that if it’s on Facebook, it’s real.
