Kirby Smart was hired to replace Mark Richt as the head football coach for the Georgia Bulldogs. He has a lot of work to do to live up to the hype that he has received, but getting quarterback Jacob Eason to commit was a huge step in the right direction.
Following the news that the five-star quarterback had made his decision to keep his commitment with Georgia, Smart took to Twitter to make a brief comment.
Social media has become such an intriguing part of sports and even head coaches are using it as a recruiting tool.
Georgia has needed to bring in a legitimate long-term quarterback for a few years now. Last season was absolutely brutal at the position, but Eason can immediately help fix that. Seeing him start from his first game of his freshman season wouldn’t be a bit of a surprise.
Looking ahead at the future of Georgia football, Smart is going to fit in well with the recruiting side of things. He is a very well-known coach and is a very likable guy as well. Eason obviously feels comfortable with Smart being the head coach instead of Richt, which says a lot after the doubts that he had about his original commitment.
During his senior season at Lake Stevens High School in Washington, Eason completed 69.5 percent of his passes for 3,585 yards, 43 touchdowns and six interceptions.
Those numbers alone show just a bit of his potential for the future with the Bulldogs and the program should be very excited to have him.
