The South Carolina Gamecocks opened a new $14.3 million indoor practice facility over the summer and they were pretty excited about it.
The team had yet to select a name for the building, but with longtime head coach Steve Spurrier announcing his resignation earlier this year, they decided they had a pretty appropriate name for it.
According to The State, the school has announced that they will name the practice facility after Spurrier and his wife, Jerri.
This comes after Spurrier’s 11-year career in Columbia and leading them to their first and only SEC Championship Game in 2010.
The Gamecocks have also added on a new video board, outdoor practice fields, and larger tailgating areas. Even new head coach Will Muschamp chimed in on the new facility.
“From everything that I have seen and heard about the facility, it will be state-of-the-art with the latest in amenities for our football team, coaches and staff,” Muschamp said. “This is a critical component to moving our football program forward.
