Vols commit throws shade at Hunter Johnson?

News was made last night when Hunter Johnson, the No. 1 quarterback in the class of 2017, flipped his commitment from Tennessee to Clemson. As a result, Jarrett Guarantano, the Vols’ revered quarterback commit for next season, appeared to sub-tweet Johnson’s announcement, which came via 247 Sports.

Lol , if you want to go win SEC championships & go to big time bowl games come to Tennessee . Jump on board or just watch us win . Simple 🔶🏆

Not subbing anyway , just letting all recruits and fans know what we have in store . #VFL

Funny, Guarantano. “Jump on board or just watch us win”??

Look at it this way. Though Tennessee has shown general improvement in three seasons under Butch Jones, the team still plays in the highly competitive SEC and has to worry about schools such as Alabama, LSU, Georgia and many others.

Clemson, on the other hand, currently has the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff and is built for long-term, more immediate success. Thus, say what you will about Johnson’s decision, Guarantano, but take solace in the fact that you now don’t have to worry about him stealing your starting job away from you in Knoxville.
