Coach K gives update on Amile Jefferson’s return, seems worried without him

The Duke Blue Devils took a big blow on Tuesday when it was reported that Amile Jefferson had fractured his foot in practice and will be out indefinitely. This is certainly a crushing injury for the team as Jefferson is one of the team’s biggest leaders on the court.

Tuesday evening, head coach Mike Krzyzewski talked with Laura Keeley of the Raleigh News & Observer and said that there is currently not a set timetable for Jefferson’s return. However, he did say that Jefferson’s cast comes off next week, but that still doesn’t give a full indication of his return.

Amile Jefferson's hard cast will come off on Dec. 26th. Will be reevaluated then. They don't necessarily expect him back soon after that

"We have to keep the ship afloat, man, while he's gone." K on Duke without Jefferson

Krzyzewski then went onto talk about his team not needing to lose another guy. Reports said that he is “clearly concerned” for his team without Jefferson on the court.

Duke will practice with no contact. Team can't afford to lose another player to injury in practice, Coach K said.

K clearly concerned with Duke's numbers situation. Has alluded to the idea that losing one more guy could toast this team

The Blue Devils have only lost one game so far this season, which was to Kentucky a few weeks ago. However, the team will be getting into ACC play really soon and being without Jefferson could cost them big time.
