Nebraska cornerback Jonathan Rose has been dismissed from the program, according to a report from John Taylor of NBC Sports’ College Football Talk. No reason has been given for his dismissal.
Rose, a former four-star recruit, began the season on new coach Mike Riley’s naughty list. Based on his dismissal, he never got his way off of that. He was suspended for the season opener against BYU along with three teammates for what is still only known as an unspecified violation of team rules.
Rose appeared in nine games, starting five, and posted 42 tackles to go with an interception.
In terms of what happens next, it’s anyone’s guess. He could try and latch on with another program or try his luck with the NFL, but the odds are stacked against him.
Being dismissed from one program is a hard mark to erase, so just imagine how hard that is when one has been dismissed from two.
Campus Sports will update Rose’s story should any new information become available.
