UCLA Bruins offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone is in intensive care due to a blood clot in his lung, according to a report from NBC Sports.
“Coach Mazzone is resting comfortably, in good spirits and looking forward to getting back with the team as soon as possible,” the school said in a statement.
Mazzone, 58, is in the ICU and that is all that UCLA is making public at this point. There are no further details on what caused the issue or the status of such, and there has also been no word as to whether he will be available for the Foster Farms Bowl against Nebraska on the 26th.
In Mazzone’s place, running backs coach Kennedy Polamalu is serving as the acting coordinator.
Campus Sports sends Mazzone and his family its best wishes and will update his condition once any new information becomes available.
