J.J. Abrams snuck in his trademark easter egg into ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

|

ALERT: THERE IS NO SPOILER IN THIS ARTICLE

As many of you will likely be among the millions to see the newest Star Wars installment, be sure to keep your eye out for a certain easter egg. No, among all the amazing special effects and dialogue that you are surely going to paying more attention to, I am not asking you to divert your attention away for just an egg.

We’re actually talking about director J.J. Abrams’ favorite ‘easter egg’ that he’s managed to slide into almost everything he’s doneLost, Star TrekFringe, Super 8 and Mission Impossible III all feature his easter egg; his grandfather’s name, Kelvin.

In case you missed them in his previous work, Clancy Brown’s Lost character was named Kelvin Joe Inman; Kirk was born on the U.S.S. Kelvin in Star Trek; William Bell previously worked at a company called Kelvin Genetics on Fringe; Ethan Hunt receives a post cast addressed to “H. Kelvin” in Mission Impossible III, and there is a Kelvin gas station in Super 8.

Abrams wasn’t as obvious this time around as Abrams slid it into one early scene, when Rey (Daisy Ridley) is talking to her droid BB-8. During the conversation, she points BB-9 towards Kelvin Ridge.

MIND BLOWN!

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens is currently in theaters.
