Penn State head coach James Franklin has said that star defensive end Carl Nassib will play in the team’s Taxslayer Bowl matchup against Georgia, thus putting to bed any concerns over the injury that kept him limited in the team’s last two regular season games against Michigan and Michigan State.
Franklin’s announcement was reported on Twitter by ESPN’s Josh Moyer.
This is great news for both Nassib and the Nittany Lions. Nassib has phenomenal size for his position at 6-foot-7, 272 pounds and led the nation with 15.5 sacks and established himself as one of the game’s premier pass-rushers in 2015, and his playing against Georgia should also help his NFL Draft stock as he prepares for the NFL Scouting Combine in February.
Just what was ailing him remains a mystery, but stay tuned to Campus Sports for any further updates on his story!
The Taxslayer Bowl kicks off at Jacksonville’s EverBank Field at 12 p.m. ET on January 2, with ESPN set to broadcast the game.
