North Carolina senior forward Brice Johnson had a great game in the Tar Heels’ victory over UCLA today, but could have had an even greater one had he not missed eight minutes of action.
According to multiple sources, Johnson was benched for eight minutes in the first half for what is being described as “bad language.”
Brice Johnson said he used profanity early in the game and that resulted in him sitting for an extended period of time in the first half.

So apparently Brice Johnson sat for 8 minutes because he used "bad language." Doubt that would matter if he played for Duke.

Brice Johnson: "Coach got really pissed at me and lit a fire under my butt."

Looks like that benching worked, as UNC went on to win 89-76 and Johnson led the way with 27 points and nine rebounds, making 11 of 12 from the field! UNC needed him to step up in the absence of big man Kennedy Meeks, and he did that and beyond.
It just goes to show that though Tar Heels coach Roy Williams has a reputation for being a strict disciplinarian, his approach works and his players respect him all the more for it.
UNC will look to improve to 10-2 on the year when it faces the Sun Belt’s Appalachian State Mountaineers at home on Monday.
