911 reporter that helped Iman Shumpert deliver child to be nominated for service awards

Last week, Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard Iman Shumpert had a pretty exciting event in his life when his fiance went into labor with their child. Unfortunately for them, they couldn’t get to the hospital before she went into the final stages of the process.

Shumpert did what any good boyfriend/fiance/husband would do and called 9-1-1. The operator talked him through the process and helped him deliver his child in their home bathroom.

The operator, whose identity was not revealed, is being considered a hero. According to TMZ, the operator will be nominated for service awards.

Cleveland EMS Headquarters chief David Miller but told the site, “He’s always been a really good employee.”

He went on to say that the operator will “definitely be nominated” and that he is always popular in the workplace, “but even more so this week.”

Congratulations to the operator. It just goes to show that just doing your job to the best of your ability will always pay off.
