Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has been ruled out for Week 16 as he continues to recover from a lacerated kidney suffered last month. Luck’s status was reported by coach Chuck Pagano and posted on Twitter by NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.
Indianapolis has gone 2-3 in Luck’s absence and has lost three in a row, with the team’s record standing at 6-8. Oddly enough, the Colts are just one game behind the Houston Texans for first place in the AFC South.
Luck was struggling prior to his injury thanks to poor offensive line play, completing just 55.3 percent of his passes for 1,881 yards and 15 touchdowns to go with 12 interceptions. Despite Indianapolis still being in the playoff picture, 40-year-old backup Matt Hasselbeck’s age is starting to show after his leaving late in games with various bumps and bruises.
Thus, with the postseason still on the horizon, fans will surely be grateful once Luck can get back on the field.
