New Memphis head coach Mike Norvell is already starting to build his coaching staff for the future and he looked to the NFL to find his offensive line coach. Norvell has reunited with a former Arizona State colleague of his.
According to SI.com, Ryan Silverfield has agreed to join Norvell with the Tigers to coach the offensive line. The two worked together this year at Arizona State, but both left at about the same time as Norvell took the Memphis job and Silverfield took an assistant offensive line coaching position with the Detroit Lions last month.
Silverfield has a ton of experience with offensive lines in the collegiate ranks. Before Arizona State, he worked with Toledo, Central Florida, and Jacksonville University as the offensive line coach.
It is going to be interesting to see how Norvell follows up what Just Funete did with the Tigers. Fuente took the team from one of the worst programs in the country to a 10-3 record in 2014 and a top 25 appearance and a 9-3 record this year.
