The biggest news to come out of the SEC this week was likely the news that Florida quarterback Will Grier announced his intentions to transfer next season. It looks like head coach Jim McElwain isn’t too salty about Grier’s decision as he talked about him not putting any transfer restrictions on Grier.
McElwain talked with SEC Country and said that Grier won’t be restricted on where he can play in the future. He talked about how the school wants to support him in whatever he decides to do.
“The one thing I’ll never do is make someone do something they don’t want to do. In life, sometimes change of scenery is good. In this case, he’s going to go have a successful career and go on to play in the NFL. We’ll help him in every way we can.”
It is worth noting that Grier has already used his redshirt and will have to sit out the first six games of 2016 if he stays in the NCAA level. He could take a year and play at the JUCO level, but I think any team would be happy to have him on their roster next year.
