Brian Kelly says RB C.J. Prosise should play in Fiesta Bowl

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are gearing up for a tough matchup against the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Fiesta Bowl this season. It is a game that many are expecting to be one of the best bowl games of the season.

In advance of that highly-anticipated matchup, the Fighting Irish received some good news.

Head coach Brian Kelly said that he believes star running back C.J. Prosise will be able to play in the game, which will help their offense immensely.

C.J. Prosise practiced today. He’s not taking contact right now. He should be able to play, per Kelly.

Kelly said Josh Adams and C.J. Prosise complement each other real well as running backs. “It would be a very lethal 1-2 punch."

Having Prosise in the backfield is a huge relief for the Irish, as the Buckeyes have a very good defense.

Deshone Kizer is a very talented quarterback, but he is not going to be able to beat Ohio State by himself. He will need the running back to step up alongside of him and help take pressure off of his arm.

Prosise ended the regular season with 156 carries for 1,032 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Notre Dame will face off against Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl on January 1st at 1:00 p.m. ET.
