Purdue’s Stephen Toyra gets engaged on court following game

Stephen Toyra is not a name that many college basketball fans have ever heard. His name isn’t one that many Purdue Boilermakers fans have heard, even though he is a senior on their basketball team.

While he may not be known for what he has done on-the-court throughout his career, his name took a big leap forward after last night’s win against the Vanderbilt Commodores. He took that moment to pick his girlfriend up out of the stands, put her on-the-court, get down on one knee and propose to her. She said yes and it was an incredibly special moment.

Toyra is a walk-on for the Purdue basketball team and is a senior this season. He has played just 18 minutes all season long and has scored six total points. His college basketball career may not be what he had dreamed it would be, but finding the love of his life makes that seem much less important.

Check out a video of Toyra’s proposal and enjoy one of the most heart-warming stories of the holiday season in college basketball.
