Texas Tech commit Jeff Duffey named Mr. Texas Football

It looks like the Texas Tech Red Raiders are getting a pretty talented quarterback for their team next season as 2016 commit Jeff Duffey was just given a pretty big honor in the state of Texas. He was named Mr. Texas Football, according to KCBD in Houston.

Duffey will be honored with the award on December 29 during halftime of the AdvoCare 100 Texas Bowl, which coincidentally the Red Raiders are playing in against the LSU Tigers. The Mansfield Lake Ridge quarterback joins names like Jacquizz Rodgers, Johnny Manziel, and last year’s winner, Kyler Murray, as winners of the honor.

In 2015, Duffey threw for over 2,700 yards, ran for over 1,600 yards, and accounted for 48 total touchdowns. He is a three-star quarterback and was ranked as the number 17 dual-threat quarterback in the country.
