There is no question that Alabama running back Derrick Henry was one of the hardest working players in the country this year. He has been the workhorse for the Crimson Tide this year and won the Heisman Trophy because of that and his dedication.
He rushed for nearly 2,000 yards and broke Herschel Walker’s SEC single-season rushing record. He has become a role model to kids across the country, but I don’t think he made a bigger impact on anyone than he did on seven-year-old Crimson Tide fan “Fitz.”
His mother posted a tribute to Henry, thanking him for making an impression on her son. He screenshotted the Facebook post and said that it “means everything” to him.
This is certainly a cool thing to see. College athletes love to see when they have done something good for young fans and I’m sure Henry was delighted to see this.
