To say that the Ole Miss Rebels had an up and down season would certainly be an understatement. The team started off the year hot, opening up undefeated with a big win over eventual SEC Champion Alabama in Tuscaloosa and got up to number four in the AP polls.
The team were blasted by Florida just two weeks after their big win over the Crimson Tide and then later lost on the road to Memphis.
It looked like they were all but dead in the water, but the team finished the year strong and were able to earn a bid in the Sugar Bowl for the first time since 1969.
Head coach Hugh Freeze is pretty excited about what their team has done this year. He took to Twitter to commend his team on what they did this year and it was pretty special.
Freeze has been a big part of the Rebels’ progress the last few years. Since his arrival, the Rebels have been a staple in the Top 25 and have slowly become a contender in the SEC, defeating Alabama the last two seasons.
If the Rebels can win their Sugar Bowl game against Oklahoma State, it will be their first ten-win season since 2003. They take on the Cowboys on January 1 at 8:30 p.m. EST on ESPN.
