The running back position comes as an anomaly in the NFL nowadays. Rarely do you see one get drafted very high in the NFL and then turn out to be worth it for that team.

There are the rare occasions where a running back ends up being a big time player, like Adrian Peterson or Todd Gurley, but most of the time teams wait until the later round.
