X-Factor: Marshall Plumlee
During the regular season, Marshall Plumlee was someone who did his job well but never really got much attention. His 8.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game were quite respectable for someone 7-foot-1, 250 pounds.
And in the NCAA Tournament, Plumlee has gone full beast mode. He has averaged 12.5 points, nine rebounds and four blocks per contest while shooting a flabbergasting 95 % from the field over Duke’s two games in the big dance.
Granted, Plumlee has a tough matchup tomorrow against Oregon interior defense machine Chris Boucher, but he has one thing that the Ducks’ center does not: experience. On top of that, Boucher is rail thin and could wind up being eaten alive by Plumlee.
Should that happen, then Duke’s chances of upsetting Oregon and moving on to the Elite Eight will be looking pretty good.
