NFL Draft 2011: The re-draft

32. Green Bay Packers

The pick: Derek Sherrod

The re-pick: Julius Thomas

Thomas didn’t get any playing time in his first two years with the Denver Broncos, but that is because they didn’t have a need for him. The Packers, however, did have a glaring hole for a tight end as Jermichael Finley just wasn’t performing all that well.

Adding an athletic player like Thomas to their roster would have given Aaron Rodgers just another unfair target to throw to. He is a great third-down tight end, but can also make plays in the open field by getting past defensive backs.
