Heisman Trophy 2016: Top five candidates from the SEC

5. Jalen Hurd, RB, Tennessee

Of the three running backs on this list, Hurd might be the most underrated simply because of the color jersey he wears. There hasn’t been a Tennessee player even considered for the Heisman in a long time, but this Volunteer could end up being the best in the SEC at year’s end.

Hurd has steadily improved over the last two years as he rushed for just shy of 1,300 yards in 2015 and locked down 12 touchdowns. He has proven to be an effective threat in the passing game as well, racking up over 400 yards in two years.
