Rodney Purvis changing number to honor Oklahoma State player

Earlier this offseason, the Oklahoma State Cowboys were struck with tragedy when junior college transfer Tyrek Coger collapsed during a practice and later passed away.

His close friend, UConn point guard Rodney Purvis, will change his number to honor Coger this upcoming season.

Purvis is one of the best players in the Big East and was huge for the Huskies during the 2015-16 season. He will switch from No. 44 to No. 15 to honor Coger this year.

Following his tragic death, it was discovered that Coger had an enlarged heart. It was a sad situation for the Cowboys and they are looking to move past this terrible tragedy.

It is certainly a good move for Rodney Purvis to honor his late friend. It would do his number proud if the Husky was to to do much of what he did last season when he averaged 12.8 points per game to lead UConn.
