Virginia Tech football: 5 things to watch in 2016

The Virginia Tech Hokies are entering a brand new era of football in 2016 as Justin Fuente takes over the reins from the recently-retired Frank Beamer. It will be fun to see if this offensive guru will take this traditionally dominant defensive club back to the top of the ACC in the coming years and it starts in September.

Virginia Tech has a talented group of skills players on the offense with guys like Isaiah Ford, Bucky Hodges and Travon McMillan all returning. The offensive line returns four starters and should give great protection to either quarterback Brenden Motley or Jerod Evans.

Defensively, they will have to bounce back from the worst season in Bud Foster’s tenure with the team. Players like defensive end Ken Ekanem and linebacker Andrew Motuapuaka will be able to step up for this team and make a big impact.

Where will this team stand at the end of their first season under Coach Fuente? Let’s take a look at five things to watch for the Virginia Tech Hokies in the 2016 college football season.
