The Big 12 is holding a Board of Directors meeting on Monday, with Big 12 expansion a topic of conversation.
But while a press conference is scheduled for later today that could provide some insight on whether the conference will add a team or two, one influential man is on record saying he doesn’t think expansion is a good idea.
Fox Sports president Eric Shanks shared his opinion with the Sports Business Journal.
Fox's Eric Shanks to @Ourand_SBJ "Don't think Big 12 expansion is good idea; dilutive to product in short term; long term, probably harmful"

In recent weeks, it appears that those in favor of expansion are beginning to be outnumbered. There was previously a time where expansion seemed like a foregone conclusion with BYU, Houston and Cincinnati as the front-runners to join the conference, but now we will have to wait and see what the Big 12 has up their sleeves after today’s meeting.
