The Stanford Cardinal will get a boost on offense with star running back Christian McCaffrey due to return today against Colorado.

McCaffrey missed last weeks game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, which Stanford won, 17-10. Even with him having missed time, McCaffrey has accounted for 33 percent of the Cardinal plays on offense. This is indicative of Stanford’s bigger problem, ball distribution.
McCaffrey hasn’t been the weapon he was last year, largely due to a lack of other playmakers on the field. This season he has rushed 99 times for 520 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 18 receptions for 154 yards and an another score. His numbers are down, in part because of his injuries, but also because defenses have been able to key in on McCaffrey on most plays.
This week Stanford plays an opponent they should be able to beat handily. After starting the season 3-0, they lost in a blowout to Washington and Washington State in consecutive weeks.
