The father of UCLA basketball star Lonzo Ball is making some pretty bold claims.
LaVar Ball, Lonzo Ball’s father, was speaking with TMZ Sports when he compared his son to Jason Kidd. Not only did he compare his son to one of the best point guards in recent memory, he went on to say that Lonzo would end up being better in the NBA than Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry.
“You can’t compare my boy to anyone,” Ball told TMZ Sports. “I’m going to tell you this, you say he’s like Jason Kidd, but he’s taller than Jason Kidd. He jumps better than Jason Kidd. He’s longer than Jason Kidd. He’s got a better shot than Jason Kidd.
“He’s going to be better than Steph Curry in the NBA. My son is young, he’s got time to grow. You only consider (Curry) good because he’s won a couple of championships … he’s made some shots at the right time … but he’s not as young as my boy.”

Alrighty then.
If Ball does go on to have an incredible NBA career, his father will be waiting to say “I told you so.”
“You’re not going to be able to say this until my boy has ended his career,” Ball added, “then they’re going to look back and say, ‘Man, how did Lavar know all of this?'”
UCLA returns to action Saturday, Feb. 18 against the USC Trojans at Pauley Pavilion. Tip-off is set for 10 p.m. ET on the Pac-12 Network.
We’ll have to see if Ball tests his range and gets his Steph Curry on.
