Lindsey Vonn is one of the most well-known athletes that will be representing the United States at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea — which officially kickoff with the Opening Ceremony on Friday morning.
Vonn is a three-time Olympian who has claimed two medals — a gold medal in Downhill and bronze medal in the Super-G at the 2010 Vancouver Games.
Vonn has been limited due to injuries in recent years, which led to her missing out on the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Now that she is healthy and ready to return to the slopes, Vonn is eager to prove she is still one of the best skiers in the world.
“I’m not a very patient person, so eight years has been a really long time,” she said at an event leading up to the Olympics, via People.com. “I’ve been working really hard. Obviously I’ve had my share of ups and downs with my injuries, but I’m healthy now and I’m really looking forward to another chance at gold.”
Vonn is also a 20-time World Cup crystal globe winner – an all-time record among men or women.
If she is able to reach the podium in Pyeongchang, the 33-year-old Vonn will become the oldest woman to claim an Olympic Alpine medal. She has won a record eight World Cup season titles in downhill and five titles in super-G.
The 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea take place from Feb. 9 – Feb. 25.
