Silje Norendal is one of the most recognizable faces on the Norwegian team for the 2018 Winter Olympic in PyeongChang, South Korea. Norendal will have two opportunities to make the medal podium in PyeongChang, as she competes in the slopestyle and Big Air competitions.
It is Norendal’s second go at the Olympics, after finishing short of her goal four years ago. During competition at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, she finished in fourth place in the slopestyle semifinals.
The 24-year-old snowboarder is a four-time Winter X Game Gold medalit, along with earning a bronze medal in the 2017 World Championships in Sierra Nevada.
Norendal won gold medal in the 2014 and 2015 Aspen Winter X Games, while earning gold in the Winter X Games Europe back in 2013. In this year’s World Championships, Norendal earned bronze in the Big Air competition.
Before turning her focus to snowboarding, Norendal was also an avid handball player.
“[My mum] bought snowboards for both of us so we could learn together,” Norendal said, according to her Olympic profile. “My hometown has a great resort, and I lived only 10 minutes away from it, so when I was not at school I spend my time riding.”
Outside of sports, she finds herself doing modeling for a number of photoshoots.
