Former ESPN anchor Lindsay Czarniak is making her way back to CNN. Czarniak, who first joined CNN 18 years ago, returned to the network recently and is scheduled to remain on the air for “a few weeks.” Czarniak is part of the CNN sports desk which provides updates to the biggest stories of the day in partnership with Bleacher Report.
On Tuesday, Czarniak was seen providing updates on New Day hosts Chris Cuomo and Alisyn Camerota. Czarniak is serving in the absence of Coy Wire, who joined CNN Sports as a full-time anchor and correspondent back in 2015.
Czarniak left ESPN back in August when her role with the network was up in the air. She had previously hosted the 6:00 p.m. ET SportsCenter, but that role had been filled by Jemele Hill and Michael Smith, though they no longer fill the time slot. Contract negotiations failed and Czarniak left the Worldwide Leader before resurfacing on CNN.
While the gig on CNN appears to be temporary, it’s good to see Czarniak back on the air and being involved in the sports world.
Last week, Czarniak took to social media to share a side-by-side photo of when she first joined CNN 18 years ago and when she returned to the network this month.
Stumbled upon this #TBThursday gem that was still in the @CNN system from my 1st day on the job in 2000! I was fresh outta school with a dream to be a journalist and a killer haircut 🙂 18 yrs later I am just as excited to join the CNN sports team for a few weeks starting tmrw pic.twitter.com/WQBoq1M3ia
