The Michigan football program has lost six straight games to the rival Ohio State Buckeyes. However, that is all going to change in 2018 according to Wolverines legend and former Heisman Trophy-winner Charles Woodson, who made a bold proclamation over the weekend.
According to Woodson, who was speaking at the University of Michigan commencement, the Wolverines are guaranteed a victory over the Buckeyes during the 2018 season.
“I talked about Desmond and myself running down that sideline to victory against you know who, and you know what, you guys haven’t experienced that feeling very much against that school,” Woodson said, via Sports Illustrated. “It hurts my heart, it really does.
“But I’m telling you here today, 212 days from now, your Michigan Wolverines team will go down to Columbus, march into that stadium and we will beat you know who to bring back that familiar feeling of victory back to The University of Michigan again.”
Along with losing the previous six meetings, Michigan has lost 13 of the past 14 games to Ohio State so it’s time to reverse their fortunes. After all, it is one thing that has continuously managed to escape Jim Harbaugh.
We’ll have to see if he can make good on Woodson’s guarantee.
The Wolverines kickoff their 2018 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 1 in a high-profile game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The game will air on NBC at 7:30 p.m. ET.
