UNC Basketball: Roy Williams Wants To Coach 10-12 More Years

It doesn’t look like UNC basketball coach Roy Williams is going anywhere anytime soon.
At least that is not in his immediate plans.
Despite winning a national championship last season, the sixth in school history, the 66-year-old Williams doesn’t want to walk away just yet and he currently sees himself leading the team for at least the next decade.
“We’re very fortunate, we’ve got a lot of our former players in coaching so it’s a pretty good coaching tree,” Williams said, via Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog. “So we’re going to have some good choices. I just hope that’s about 10 or 12 years from now.”
The response came after a question about former UNC star Jerry Stackhouse possibly replacing him as Tar Heels head coach.
While Stackhouse is obviously a very capable coach, UNC basketball fans have to be thrilled that Williams is still looking towards the long-term future of the program.
Throughout his lengthy career as a head coach, Williams has recorded a 398-115 record, including three national championships and two AP Coach of the Year awards.
