The Texas football program announced a marquee home-and-home series with reigning national champion and SEC titan Alabama. The Longhorns and Crimson Tide will face off in 2022 and 2023. It will mark the tenth time that the two programs have faced off on the gridiron. Texas holds a 7-1-1 series advantage between the two college football powerhouses.
Texas will host the Crimson Tide on Sept. 10, 2022, before traveling to Tuscaloosa on Sept. 9, 2023, for the return leg of their series.
Texas has also announced a home game against UTEP in 2020, but no one will be talking about that one.

Texas (898/2nd NCAA) and Alabama (891/5th NCAA) have combined to play 248 years of football and post 1,789 all-time victories. Having last met in the 2009 National Championship Game at the Rose Bowl, the Longhorns and Crimson Tide have played nine times dating back to 1902 with Texas holding a 7-1-1 series advantage. The traditional college football powers have only met three times on their home fields with the last coming in Austin in 1922. The Longhorns played at Alabama in 1902, and the Crimson Tide traveled to Austin in 1915. The bowl matchups have taken place in the 1947 Sugar Bowl, 1960 Bluebonnet Bowl, 1964 Orange Bowl, 1972 and 1982 Cotton Bowls and most recently the 2010 Rose Bowl.
With the addition of the home-and-home series with the Crimson Tide, Texas has been forced to cancel a 2023 home game with UCF — the self-proclaimed reigning national champions. Another shuffle in the Longhorns’ future schedule impacts the planned series with the Ohio State Buckeyes. The two programs mutually agreed to push the dates of their home-and-home series from 2022 and 2023 to 2025 and 2026.
