Grayson Allen breaks down in tears up after tripping incident, sideline meltdown

Following a game in which he received a technical foul for tripping another player and threw a notable temper tantrum on the sideline, Duke guard Grayson Allen couldn’t fight back the tears talking to reporters after the game.

With a suspension possibly in the works for Allen, the fact that he might be out of action for a little while doesn’t seem to have escaped him.

Allen, who has had incidents of tripping in the past, was clearly upset at himself.

Fighting back tears, Allen apologized to the player he tripped, the officials for having to call the play and to his teammates. He went on to say he was “not proud of it at all” while tears streamed down his face.

Allen appears to let his ultra-competitiveness get out of control. It is difficult to argue that he isn’t incredibly talented, but his temperament is a huge detractor when considering his future in basketball.

Now a junior, Allen may be forced to return to the Blue Devils for a senior season, if only to prove that he is a reformed player. Teams will be hesitant to select a player who so lacks maturity on the court.
