Danny Kanell got a new puppy, named it after Bobby Bowden

Danny Kannel has adopted a living tribute to his former ball coach, Bobby Bowden.

Earlier today, Kannel posted a picture of himself with his newest family member, a yellow labrador retriever he named Bowden. The ESPN analyst and radio show host played for Florida State under the legendary coach in the 90’s and is a Florida native.

It seems to have been largely the manufacturing of his two daughters, who used clever salesmanship to get themselves a puppy. Kudos to the Kanell children for their inventive strategy. The pup, who will one day grow to weigh over 70 pounds, still fits within one palm…for now.

Kanell had brief stints in the NFL and the Arena Football League, and has created a comfortable living for himself at the biggest sports network in the world. But his new best friend won’t care about any of that, he’ll only care about treats, affection, and chasing squirrels out of the yard.
