Boston University freshman Jack Eichel continued to show he is a special player, by powering Boston over North Dakota to earn the Terriers a Frozen Four Final appearance against the Providence Friars.
Eichel led Boston to an early lead, with a power play goal five minutes into the game. Before the first period came to an end, Brandon Hickey added to the Terriers lead.
In the second half, North Dakota found themselves within one score following a goal from Luke Johnson.
Unfortunately, Boston wasn’t done lighting up the scoreboard just yet.
Eichel assisted A.J. Greer to extend Boston’s lead to 3-1, before Doyle Somerby scored the fourth goal of the game just minutes later. With a commanding lead, it was Boston’s game to lose.
North Dakota put their best foot forward in the final period to once again pull within a goal thanks to scores from Troy Stecher and Connor Gaarder to make the score 4-3, Boston.
However, with time running out, North Dakota tried one final rally and pulled the goalie.
That is when Jack Eichel scored his second goal and third point of the game to seal the 5-3 win for the Terriers.
Before Eichel and Boston punched their ticket to the Frozen Four Final, Providence beat Nebraska-Omaha 4-1 to earn their place in the national championship.
The Frozen Four Final between Boston and Providence will take place April 11. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
