Texas A&M gave Speedy Noil time off to work on ‘some things’

The Texas A&M Aggies expect to have wide receiver Speedy Noil back with the team soon. However, the exact reason for his absence this spring has been unknown.

Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin provided some slight insight into Noil’s absence on Saturday, saying the team asked the wideout to take some time away from football to work on “some things.”

Speedy has some things he’s got to complete,” Sumlin said, via The Houston Chronicle. “He’ll be back this week. We asked him to do some things, and while he’s doing that he’s been away from the program.

“There’s more to it than just playing football. There are guys who mature at different times, and sometimes you have to put some things in place to make sure guys really understand what’s expected of them.”

Whatever those things Noil has to take care of are, the Aggies will hope he gets it all straightened out.

Last season as a freshman, Speedy Noil recorded 583 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
