Could Billy Donovan leave Florida for Oklahoma City Thunder?

The Oklahoma City Thunder have missed out on the 2015 NBA Playoffs and head coach Scott Brooks could find himself in jeopardy of being fired. That is the word from Yahoo Sports NBA guru Adrian Wojnarowski.

In the report from Wojnarowski, a potential candidate to replace Brooks is named.

If the Thunder decide to move on from Brooks and not to allow him back for the final year of his current contract, keep an eye out on Florida Gators leading man Billy Donovan.

The report states that Donovan has “long-standing friendship” Thunder general manager Sam Presti.

“If a change comes, University of Florida coach Billy Donovan could emerge as a serious candidate to coach Oklahoma City, league sources said,” Wojnarowski reported. “Presti has a longstanding friendship with Donovan, a two-time national championship coach who has been open about his interest in moving to the NBA.”

Donovan had briefly accepted a NBA job with the Orlando Magic before changing his mind and returning to the Gators.

Billy Donovan has been head coach of the Florida Gators since 1996.
