Justin Tillman changes mind, returns to VCU

It was announced earlier this week that VCU Rams forward Justin Tillman had requested to be released from his scholarship with the university.

However, Tillman has pulled a switcheroo.

On Wednesday night, Tillman took to Twitter to announce he has decided to change his mind and return to the Rams where he will play under new head coach Will Wade.

After the departure of Shaka Smart, a number of VCU players had opted out of their scholarships or backed down from their commitments so the return of Tillman is great news for Wade and the Rams’ future.

Last season as a freshman, the 6-foot-7 forward averaged 3.6 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. Tillman averaged 12 minutes per game, but will likely see his playing time increase this season.

It will be interesting to see how the new-look VCU Rams fair in the 2015-16 college basketball season as they try to remain a top contender in the Atlantic-10.
