Five-star Stephen Zimmerman commits to UNLV

The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels basketball team got some positive news late Thursday night thanks to five-star big man Stephen Zimmerman.

Zimmerman, who attended Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, announced that he will stay at home and begin his collegiate career with the Runnin’ Rebels.

The announcement came on Twitter.

Thx 2 all the programs & fans that supported me. This is MY decision & I've decided 2 stay home & attend #UNLV #LetsRun #Vegas

Zimmerman also had offers from Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky and UCLA.

Ultimately, he decided it would be best to stay home.

Chase Jeter, a teammate of Zimmerman’s at Bishop Gorman, chose Duke.

While showing off his talents for scouts around the nation, Zimmerman has participated in the McDonald’s All-American Game and the Nike Hoop Summit. Zimmerman will also compete in the Jordan Brand Classic which is taking place Friday night.
