Syracuse Unveils New Turf for 2015 Season

While the hopes of a football-only facility are still just pipe dreams for the Syracuse Orange right now, the university can still make minor upgrades while it patiently awaits a decision. What better upgrade to make than a brand new turf field inside the Carrier Dome?

According to College Football Talk, TurfField will be installing the field for the Orange and they claim that the turf is top-of-the-line and will feature a three-layer infill that will give it a 3D texture and feel.

Interim Athletic Director Pete Sala talked about his excitement for the new turf.

“When we were looking to replace our synthetic field, I wanted to continue our relationship with FieldTurf. We like the quality and we are very excited about using the Classic HD product. The Carrier Dome is used year round for a multitude of events ranging from football to Monster Truck events and even ice skating shows. For this reason, it was important that we select a very durable product without compromising on quality. And that’s why we selected FieldTurf.”

The Carrier Dome hosts multiple events aside from Orange football and basketball, so having a high-quality, low-maintenance turf is key to its success and they trust TurfField from their resume alone. The company has installed their turf at Syracuse facilities in the past and have also installed playing and practice fields at Ohio State, UCF, and Louisville among others.

And don’t worry football fans, you won’t have your eyes bleeding due to an untraditional field color. You just have to worry about the uniforms.
