Losing a quality athlete due to issues not pertaining to the sport is always a disappointing situation. For the Tulane Green Wave, they have been with exactly that since spring practices.
The Green Wave lost leading sacker Royce LaFrance due to academic issues before the practices began earlier this year.
Now, it seems as though he may be back.
According to College Football Talk, Tulane head coach Curtis Johnson told the New Orleans Time-Picayune that he expected to see LaFrance back on the field by the start of the team’s summer camp in early August.
LaFrance’s return would not only provide a big boost in the team’s morale, but it would give the defense a huge piece that could lead to success in the coming season.
LaFrance, a rising senior, started eleven games last year for the Green Wave and recorded a team-high six sacks with eleven tackles for loss.
The Green Wave will certainly benefit from his return and they will need him as they open the season on the road against the last two ACC Coastal Division champions in Duke and Georgia Tech.
